Join the International Jewelry Association from November 1 to 4 for its eighth annual expo, the IJAE. Each year, the event is held in a different city. This year, it will be at the Oceanview Hotel, Johannesburg. The venue’s spectacular Gardenside Ballroom will be filled with vendors from all over the world. Furthermore, an array of items loaned by museums will be on display in the hotel’s Waterside Hall for the duration of the expo.

The IJME gives vendors and designers an opportunity to display their new collections of necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and more. Some of them will show off the amount of skill it takes to make a piece of jewelry by giving demonstrations, which will take place in the hotel’s Tideside Hall.

This year, the IJME is also pleased to have its first guest speaker. Dr. Bradley Thompson, a gemologist from the University of Windham in London will speak in the Beachside Ballroom on November 2 at 11 A.M.

Dear Dr. Thompson,

I’m sorry I missed your presentation at the expo. Unfortunately, there was a problem I had to deal with in the vendors’ venue.

We gave out some general survey cards to the attendees, and almost all of the people who saw you speak mentioned in the comments section that your talk was excellent. Thanks to the success of your informative presentation, we will include more in future expos.

Comments: This was the third year I attended the expo. I’ve always been impressed by the kindness and knowledge of the vendors and staff as well as by the quality of their products. Due to my schedule, I could only attend one day of the expo. This year, the venue was smaller though, and I had trouble finding parking. Because of this, I arrived later than I’d planned. However, I was still able to attend the presentation given by Dr. Thompson. It was very interesting. Thanks for providing this informative presentation.

We hope to see you again at the Atlantic Medical Expo!

For the 13th year, the Atlantic Medical Expo (AME) will be bringing togethet representatives from the healthcare, medical technology, and pharmaceutical indutries. The event will take place in Charleston, as always, and will run from August 12 to 14.

As your company operated a booth at last year’s AME, you qualify for a 20 percent discount on our Deluxe Vendor Package, which includes a table, four chairs, and Internet access. Also, please note that pharmaceutical and medical equipment exhibitors will not have to share the same area this year. There was some confusion last year, so we made separate spaces for each category at the Grand Southern Convention Center. All pharmaceutical booths will be located in the Center’s Main Hall, and medical tools and equipment booths be set up in the Ashbourn Room. Booths for large-scale medical machinery will be set up the outdoor Gala Tent.

Dear Mr. Liu,

Willow Goodell from the information desk told me about your situation and passed along your e-mail address. Unfortunately, your company’s display products were not delivered on the scheduled delivery date. As they arrived one day late, I regret to inform you that Cryo-Plek will not be allowed to operate a booth in the Gala Tent this year. I understand the shipping company did not tell you about the delay until August 9. However, I cannot grant an exception to our rules.

Though you may not run a booth at the expo, you and the three Cryo-Plek employees accompanying you may visit the exhibition and attend all the speeches, ceremonies, and workshops. To make up for any inconvenience, I have requested that extra restaurant vouchers be added to your guest packet.

Regards,

Brooke Beattie

LISTENING TEST

In the Listening test, you will be asked to demonstrate how well you understand spoken English. The entire Listening test will last approximately 45 minutes. There are four parts, and directions are given for each part. You must mark your answers on the separate answer sheet. Do not write your answers in your test book. PART 1: Directions: For each question in this part, you will hear four statements about a picture in your test book. When you hear the statements, you must select the one statement that best describes what you see in the picture. Then find the number of the question on your answer sheet and mark your answer. The statements will not be printed in your test book and will be spoken only one time. Statement (C), “They’re sitting at a table,” is the bust description of the picture, so you should select answer (C) and mark it on your answer sheet.
