143. For some reason, some people didn’t get the agenda you sent out this morning. One of the

IT technicians is looking into it. From what I could gather, there were 144 ten people affected by this. Could you please print extra copies and bring them to the meeting? I would do it 145 but the printer on this floor is out of ink and there aren’t any spare cartridges in the stockroom. I know that

people would appreciate having a paper copy of the agenda. This allows them to follow along 146

we are going through the topics.

Can either of you help me with an open house on Venice Drive? It’s today from 2-4. Erica was supposed to do it with me, but she called in sick, so I’ll be all by myself.

Paula Latham 10:03 A.M

I’m afraid I can’t. I’m showing a house on Brannon Avenue at that same time. These clients are quite demanding, so I think it will take longer than usual.

Yasmin Pantoja 10:06 A.M

I can, but I’m going over a rental agreement with some clients at their 14th Street office at 3:30. so I’ll have to leave early.

Chad Karr 10:07 A.M

That’s no problem. Any help you can give would be appreciated. Also, I ran out of business cards. I didn’t account for having so many people attend yesterday’s event at Rollins Road. Paula, I know you sometimes keep extras from all the employees. Do you have any?

Paula Latham 10:09 A.M

Sorry, not yours.

Yasmin Pantoja 10:12 AM

How about bringing some company brochures? You could just write your name and contact information on them.

Chad Karr 10:14 A.M

That’s a good idea. But aren’t we out of those, too?

Yasmin Pantoja 10:15 A.M.

Yes, but our order from the printer will be ready today. I’ll pick them up on my way to meet you. I can get there around 2.

March 11 —Concord Manufacturing has invested nearly $1 million in a laser cutting device—the PL-788—for its production floor. The company had originally planned on buying two such devices but later decided against it after a merger with Ace Production fell through. A spokesperson for Concord Manufacturing reported that the PL-788 will be installed by the end of the month, and that a larger workforce will be needed to handle not only the device itself but also the increased shipping and handling tasks created by the higher output. The machine uses a CO2 laser that can precisely cut the steel components for household appliances that Concord produces. Although it has high power consumption, the machine’s ability to reduce cutting times by over 50% makes it an attractive choice. In addition, the machine has also been found to reduce the injury and accident rate of workers by as much as 70% compared to traditional cutting devices. Concord Manufacturing is based in the outskirts of Albany and has been a major employer of the area for decades.

Hello Everyone,

At the previous meeting of department managers, some of you expressed interest in taking professional development courses. Having researched some of the options available in our region, I believe that the Alexandria Institute would be an excellent place to receive such training. I have attached a copy of its most recent brochure, and I encourage all of you to attend any lectures that interest you. I would like to recommend Glenn Shuman’s lecture in particular. He has achieved an impressive level of success, including being elected the youngest chairman of the highly esteemed Business Masters Club184A. Anyone who attends his talk will surely learn a great deal.

You should make the arrangements for registration on your own. However, please be aware that the company will pay you back fifty percent of the registration fee. This payment will be issued along with your usual salary Please direct any questions you may have about this to either Assistant HR Director Dorothy Brooks or me. Thank you.

Thank you.

Dear VVR Communications Representative,

I have been a WR Communications customer for the past few months, and I was surprised by the charge on my August invoice. I made the payment in full this morning so as to avoid any possible late fees, but there is an issue that needs to be resolved. I was charged for the entire month of August – $49.95—despite having some down time on my connection in August. While I understand that this can happen as your system is being upgraded, I don’t think I should have to pay for the service on days when I did not receive it. Therefore, I ask that you issue a refund for those days. If possible, I would like it returned to the credit card I used to pay the bill. It not, I would prefer a check sent to my residence. I would prefer not to have my VVR account credited.

Sincerely,

Bruce Patterson

Dear Mr. Patterson,

I’m sorry that you recently had a disappointing experience with WR Communications. We do our best to have the service running continuously, but this is not always possible. Normally, we do not give refunds for down time, but in your case it seems reasonable. Therefore, you will receive a refund based on the days of down time you experienced. We cannot issue refund checks, but we can accommodate your other requested method for issuing the refund. This may take a few days to process. I will e-mail you again when everything is done.

We are in the final stages of installing the production machinery for manufacturing our microchips on-site, and it will be helpful to have you inspect everything to make sure there are no issues.

On a lighter note, after a hard day of work, you have an evening of entertainment to look forward to, as my colleague Vicky Larson and I will be taking you to the Haynes Theater on your first night here.

Subject: Upcoming Visit

Dear Mr. Franco,

I have been informed that you will be visiting our facility on March 7-9. It will be a pleasure to meet you in person after having several discussions over the phone.

I look forward to seeing you!

Shoji Ohira

Mr. Franco’s flight was delayed, and he won’t be getting in until 10:35 P.M. The car rental place closes at ten, so he will need a ride from the airport. Please meet him there and take him to the Derby Hotel. Also, well go to the theater tomorrow night instead. I’ve asked Rita Perkins to buy the tickets since she can get a discount with her Platinum Pass. Thanks!

195.
What can be inferred about Ms. Perkins?
A. She works at the Derby Hotel.
B. She has met Mr. Franco before
C. She made a donation to Haynes Theater.
D. She plans to join the group for dinner

I am moving from Green Towers in Edgewood to the Wentworth Building in Arlington, and I’m interested in renting a vehicle from your company. I’d like the largest size I can get without needing a commercial license. I’m wondering if your vehicles come with ramps for easy loading/unloading. In addition, my friend, Carl Starnes, will help me with the driving. Does he need to be present when the vehicle is brought to my home? Thank you for answering my questions.V

I recently used Moves Rentals for the first time, and I was extremely pleased with the level of service I received. My online inquiry was answered promptly and completely. On the rental day, the vehicle arrived in excellent condition and right on time. The company gave us an extra cart at no cost. This was extremely helpful since the Wentworth Building, which I was moving into, was far from the curb. I had to pay an extra $35 fee because of my friend, but the total price was still well below that of other companies. I would highly recommend Moves Rentals for its friendly staff and great value. It’s no wonder the business has taken off.

196.
What is NOT mentioned about Movex Rentals' service?
A. It comes with two kinds of insurance.
B. It includes initially dropping off the vehicle.
C. It is available in multiple locations.
D. It provides professional movers upon request.
